Berlin/ Johannesburg: On 8 June 2010 Nelson Mandela, President Zuma, Graća Machel and the Secretary General of United Nations Ban Ki-Moon called for action at world cup in South Africa: All children shall get to school by 2015! Additionally the “Sports for Peace Gala” presented the UN-MDG-Song "8 Goals for Africa".
SPORTS FOR PEACE GALA 2010 at the FIFA World CUP
Berlin / Pretoria: On 8 June 2010 the United Nations, the Government of South Africa and the “Sports for Peace”-initiative will host one of the most important events, addressing the global public on the occasion of the FIFA World CupTM in South Africa: the “Sports for Peace Gala” in Johannesburg, the gala is a highlight of the United Nations advocacy campaign. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will attend while the Nelson Mandela Foundation endorses this special evening. This event will bring together roughly 400 remarkable personalities – from cinema, sports, politics, culture, and society – to promote the Millennium Development Goal No. 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education by 2015. The gala-event will be accompanied by a media campaign and a week of free public film screenings in townships.
Winners of the CINEMA FOR PEACE Awards:
The 9th CINEMA FOR PEACE Award Gala took place on February 15, 2010 at the historic place, the “Konzerthaus” in Berlin. True to its motto “Reconciliation” the CINEMA FOR PEACE gala honoured a series of discerning filmmakers from around the world, whose productions have helped to bring about attention to socially explosive, yet often neglected subjects. The event focused on countries such as Israel/Palestine, Northern Ireland and Tibet as well as covering the subjects of “Cultural Identity“, “Environment“ and “International Law and Justice“. One of the gala’s highlights was the presentation of the 2010 International Green Film Award by Hollywood actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev: The award went to director Joe Berlinger for his film “Crude” – a story of a lawsuit of thousands of Ecuadorians against the petrol company Chevron.

TRIAGE, for showing the horrors the war (Cinema for Peace Award for Most Valuable Work of a Director/Actor/Producer of the Year);
THE PICTURE OF THE NAPALM GIRL for showing the history of the photograph that changed the perspective of the whole world on the Vietnam War (Cinema for Peace Award for Most Valuable Documentary of the Year);
CRUDE for picturing the lawsuit by tens of thousands of Ecuadorans against Chevron over contamination of the Ecuadorean Amazon (International Green Film Award);
TIBET IN SONG for celebrating the traditional music of Tibet and picturing the cultural repression inside Chinese controlled Tibet (International Human Rights Film Award in cooperation with Amnesty International and the Human Rights Film Network);
CHILDREN OF WAR for capturing the journey of a group of former child soldiers as they make their passage from war to peace (CINEMA FOR PEACE Award for Justice, presented by Luis Moreno-Ocampo);
THE STONING OF SORAYA M. for telling the story of a woman in Iran in 1986, who was stoned to death;
WOMEN IN SHROUD for exploring the violent injustice in the Iranian legal system, particularly towards women (CINEMA FOR PEACE Award for Justice, presented by Luis Moreno-Ocampo);
FIVE MINUTES OF HEAVEN received the CINEMA FOR PEACE Award for Reconciliation;
AS WE FORGIVE and PAUL KAGAME were presented with the CINEMA FOR PEACE Honorary Award
MAGIC OF THE DANCE conquers Lisbon and Moscow!
After the very successful tour through Germany many fans celebrated premiers of MAGIC OF THE DANCE in Lisbon and Moscow. The audiences required several encores after those spectacular shows in both cities and thanked the artists with standing ovations. Currently MAGIC is touring through Spain and Portugal.
MAGIC conquers Paris!
Huge success in France: the audience celebrated the world-class opening of MAGIC OF THE DANCE in Paris.
The people of Paris overwhelmed the dancers with applause and enthusiasm, which they thanked with many encores.
